Melissa Martinez is a Mexican born artist based in Mission, Texas. Martinez aims to create art that can influence and inspire people by taking her unique life experiences and using them to guide her work. Growing up on both sides of the border, Martinez gains a unique perspective of the dynamic between both cultures, and she wants to show people the kind of takeaways she's learned from her experiences. In her most recent work, “My Dollhouse”, Martinez features her experiences as a child living with a parent in active addiction, and she plans on advocating for similar topics in the future by using her personal life experiences to showcase her dedication and passion towards the subjects.
