For my character design I want to work on animating a small drawing of a colorful cat that I sketched up in markers.
I drew inspiration from such shows as Bee and Puppycat that incorporate non complex designs that don't utilize many excess or unnecessary clothing items or details.
I particularly like the simple round shapes that the characters embody and felt it would be fun to explore that in a similar character design!
Below is a couple of examples of popular American media including street cats like my design above.
Below is an example of the type of character archeype that I want to embody in my animation! Clean linework, simple bold colors, and casual streetwear.
Body exaggerations in the final design might include the following:
Small body big head and legs!
Another classic design except with big feet and tail!
And a more human like design mirroring the human body more literally.
A combination of these elements will make for a modern "street cat" design also including modern examples of real streetwear such as the ones below.
Big hoodies, pants, cool shoes and potentially big bags to help incorporate the life of the urban streets into the final character design.
